The 22nd edition of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) will take place from May 28 to June 1 at QFX Chhaya Centre in Thamel, Kathmandu.
Ticket prices have been set at NPR 150 (1.1 US Dollars) for general viewers and NPR 100 (0.73 US Dollars) for students.
Held under the theme “Fractured Voices, Reclaiming Narratives,” this edition will highlight both global and local storytelling.
Over 65 films from 30 countries will be screened in this edition of the festival, including contemporary narrative films created by Nepali filmmakers. The festival aims not only to showcase internationally acclaimed films but also to initiate conversations around issues that impact Nepali society.
The festival will feature celebrated international films as well as powerful Nepali narratives. The festival will open with the Asian premiere of Between the Mountain and the Sky, a documentary directed by Jeremy Power Regimbal. The film intimately portrays the life of CNN Hero Maggie Doyne.
In honour of the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic ties, KIMFF will present films in the “Xizang Panorama,” showcasing stories that reflect the shared values between the two nations despite differences in language and culture.
The KIMFF jury will select winners in the following international categories: Best Feature Narrative (4 nominations), Best Feature Documentary (14 nominations), Best Short Narrative (11 nominations), and Best Short Documentary (13 nominations). From the Nepali films, they will also choose Best Documentary (6 nominations) and Best Narrative (11 nominations).
Organised by the non-profit KIMFF Foundation, the festival is a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF), headquartered in Turin, Italy.
