Heavy rainfall recorded in Lalitpur, advisory issued

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has recorded moderate to heavy rainfall in and around the Tikathali rainfall monitoring station in Lalitpur during the early hours of June 26. The department has warned that water levels in the Godavari stream and surrounding smaller rivers may rise, with continued rain expected until morning.

In a public notice issued at 1:05 AM, the department advised residents near riverbank areas, as well as those travelling along roads near these water bodies, to remain alert. The possibility of increased water flow and localised flooding has prompted authorities to call for extra caution through the night.

No damage has been reported so far, but with saturated ground conditions and ongoing rainfall, the situation remains closely monitored. Communities near the Godavari stream and other small waterways are encouraged to stay indoors if possible and follow official guidance.

The notice was jointly released by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) as part of its routine updates during the monsoon.
