Sujeev Shakya, founder and chair of the Nepal Economic Forum, launched his new book, ‘Nepal 2043: The Road to Prosperity’, in a ceremony in Kathmandu on Thursday. This is his sixth book after Unleashing Nepal (English), Unleashing the Vajra (English), Arthat Arthatantra (Nepali), Arthat Pariwartan (Nepali), and The Pandemic Years (English).
As Sujeev unleashed his latest vision for Nepal’s transition into a high-income country by 2043, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal Dr. Danielle Meuwly and Miss Nepal and entrepreneur Anushka Shrestha also addressed the launch event.
“The structure of the book itself is telling. It moves from vision to pragmatism,” Dr Meuwly commented on the book. “Optimistic yet realistic. There are many remarkable aspects to Sujeev’s book. One is the space given to demographics. Youths are the future.”
Likewise, Makkusé cofounder Shrestha noted that the book sparks a sense of responsibility alongside hope. “The book is especially relevant for young Nepalis. It is an overview of all aspects from hydro to digitisation to agriculture to brand Nepal and whatnot.”
“2043 AD is 2100 Bikram Samvat–the turn of the century,” Sujeev introduced the book. He noted that Nepal, positioned between rapidly developing India and China, has the potential to transform into a high-income country by 2043.
The event concluded with a Q&A session and a book signing ceremony with Sujeev.
The book published by Penguin Random House India is priced at NPR 985.
