A five-day cleanup and public awareness campaign in the Himalayan Mustang district of Nepal concluded on Saturday. The campaign slogan was “Let’s preserve our unique culture and environment, reduce pollution, and develop Mustang district as a tourist destination.”
The campaign, which covered various religious and tourist sites in the district, was led by the District Coordination Committee and jointly organized by all five municipalities in the district. The final day ended at Khabre Bhir, located on the border of Myagdi and Mustang districts.
The waste management effort began at the Nepal–China border point Korala and extended to locations including Nechung Customs, Zhong Cave, Thinggar, Lo Manthang, Loghekar Monastery, Luri Monastery, Chhusang, and the ancestral site of Kagbeni, leading up to the famous religious site of Muktinath. The cleanup campaign covered 145 kilometers, including Dhumba Lake, Jomsom, Marpha, Tukuche, Kobang, Sekung Lake, Lete, and the border area of Ghasa between Myagdi and Mustang.
