Nepal in Frames: An Archival Journey

Long before urbanisation transformed the capital, Kathmandu appeared simpler and quieter. Though smartphones didn’t exist back then, tourists and locals captured the city’s past in grainy black-and-white photographs. 

In these ever-changing times, the stills from back in the days offer a sight into a world that once existed; moments from history that we often might overlook.

The Kathmandu trolleybus system operated in Nepal’s capital from 28 December 1975 to November 2008. It was the only trolleybus system ever built in the country.
