Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khnal departed for New Delhi on Thursday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar. The visit runs from June 5 to 7.

Speaking to journalists at the airport before departure, Khnal said discussions would cover the full range of current bilateral issues. “We will talk about our priorities. We will talk about all the issues that have come up,” he said.

Formal talks with Jaishankar in New Delhi are scheduled to focus on trade, investment, connectivity, energy cooperation, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The visit comes at a time when Nepal and India have been working to resolve several long-standing issues, including hydropower export agreements, border disputes, and trade access. Nepal has in recent years sought to balance its relationships with India and China, and high-level diplomatic exchanges between Kathmandu and New Delhi have grown more frequent under the current government.

The Foreign Ministry described the trip as part of regular high-level diplomatic exchanges and expressed confidence that it would further strengthen the two countries’ historic and multidimensional ties. Khnal is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on June 7.
