The Nepal Tourism Board, in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Ottawa, organised a “Nepal Evening” event in Toronto to promote Nepal as a leading destination for adventure and cultural tourism in Canada.
The programme was held ahead of the internationally recognised Outdoor Adventure Show from February 20 to 22. The event aimed to expand direct connections with Canadian travel businesses, encourage commercial partnerships and strengthen Nepal’s presence in the outbound tourism market.
Nepal’s Ambassador to Canada Bharat Raj Paudyal highlighted the country’s diverse tourism appeal, noting that Nepal offers a unique blend of mountains, adventure, culture and spirituality. He pointed out that eight of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 metres, including Mount Everest, are located in Nepal. Activities such as trekking, mountaineering, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking and jungle safaris continue to position Nepal as a premier global adventure destination.
He also referred to recent improvements in infrastructure, service quality and air connectivity, which have made travel to Nepal more convenient. Facilities such as visa-on-arrival and electronic travel authorisation have further simplified the process for Canadian visitors. The ambassador encouraged stronger collaboration between Canadian travel operators and Nepal’s tourism authorities and private sector.
Senior officials from the Nepal Tourism Board delivered presentations on the country’s tourism diversity, infrastructure upgrades and growing private sector engagement. The event sought to strengthen business-to-business relations and foster long-term partnerships between tourism stakeholders from both countries.
Canada remains a steady source market for Nepal, with approximately 15,000 to 16,000 Canadian tourists visiting each year. With strong interest in adventure travel, Canada is viewed as a potential top ten source market for Nepal in the future.
