Authorities in several districts have completed preparations for vote counting ahead of Thursday’s House of Representatives election, installing iron mesh barriers and CCTV cameras to ensure security and transparency.

In Khotang, the Office of the Chief Election Officer has set up counting centres inside the District Court building. Three rooms have been allocated: one for storing ballot boxes and two for counting votes. Iron mesh partitions have been installed inside the counting rooms, with controlled entry and exit points for election staff.

Vote counting is expected to begin on the evening of Falgun 21 after ballot boxes are transported from polling centres and all-party agreement is reached. Khotang, which has a single निर्वाचन constituency, has 147,120 registered voters. Fifteen candidates, including two independents, are contesting for one seat.

In Myagdi, the counting centre has been arranged at the District Coordination Committee hall, where iron mesh fencing and CCTV cameras have been installed. Officials say the measures are intended to make the counting process orderly, fast, and secure. Representatives of candidates will be allowed to observe the process from outside the mesh barrier.

Similarly, in Baglung, counting centres have been prepared in two locations, both equipped with iron fencing and audio-enabled CCTV cameras. Counting staff will work inside the secured area, while candidate representatives will monitor proceedings from outside.

Across the districts, polling staff and security personnel have already been deployed to voting centres. Officials say the added security measures are aimed at preventing interference and ensuring that vote counting is conducted in a transparent and controlled environment.
