Nepal is preparing to establish a trading hub in Germany in an effort to expand the presence of Nepali products in the European market and strengthen economic cooperation with European countries.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the Embassy of Finland in Nepal and the Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NGCCI). The discussion focused on exploring opportunities to deepen trade and economic collaboration between Nepal, Finland, and other member states of the European Union.
One of the key ideas raised during the meeting was the creation of a trading hub in Germany that could serve as a platform to promote and distribute Nepali products across European markets. The initiative is expected to help Nepali goods gain wider visibility and easier access to buyers within the European Union.
Participants also reviewed the current state of economic relations between Nepal and Finland. Despite friendly diplomatic ties, trade and economic engagement between the two countries remain relatively limited. Both sides highlighted the need to strengthen commercial links and identify new areas of cooperation.
Finland has been supporting Nepal in several sectors, including climate change response, digitalisation, e-governance, and development cooperation. These areas were also discussed as potential fields for deeper collaboration in the future.
The Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that it is one of Nepal’s oldest bilateral chambers and can play a key role in facilitating trade and business connections between Nepal and European partners. Finland was described as an important and promising market within the European Union, and expanding trade relations with the country was seen as a positive step toward increasing Nepal’s economic engagement with Europe.
